Silesian University of Technology awarded twice by the Elsevier
The Silesian University of Technology has been twice honoured with the Elsevier Research Impact Leaders Award. In 2016, the University won a distinction in Engineering and Technology, and in 2018 in the Social Sciences. The awards were given to those universities whose publications had the greatest impact on the perception of Polish science in the world.
The awards of Elsevier Research Impact Leaders were presented during the conference "Polish universities in a global perspective. Rankings and strategic management of a university”. The awards for the Silesian University of Technology were justified by a very high share of publications in the highest cited journals and the citation rate in the indicated areas.
The intention of the Elsevier Awards is to distinguish universities whose publications have the greatest impact on the visibility of Polish science in the world. The award promotes the high quality of research and its internationalization. The award jury takes into account the increase in the number of publications in the most prestigious scientific journals, publications with the participation of foreign co-authors and the citation rate in a given discipline.
The Elsevier Research Impact Leaders Award, first awarded in 2016, is part of Elsevier's global initiative to support research and advancement of science. The award is a recognition of outstanding research institutions.
