Student Poster Session

Theme:
Student Visions for the Circular Engineering Future

Purpose

The Student Poster Session will showcase up to 20 student posters presenting innovative ideas, projects and collaborations related to the circular, digital and human-centric transformation of engineering.

Eligibility

The session is open to BSc, MSc and early PhD students (within the first two years of their doctoral programme) from European universities, applying individually or in teams (1–4 students). Submissions are welcome from student teams, scientific clubs, industry-collaboration projects and European University Alliances.

At least one student author must attend ECED 2026 in person and be present during the poster session.

Submission & Selection

Submissions are based on a short abstract (up to 220 words) addressing:

  • the idea or problem tackled,
  • the innovative or original aspect,
  • the link to the ECED 2026 theme (circular, digital, human-centric),
  • any industry or alliance collaboration (if applicable).

A joint evaluation committee (SEFI, Silesian University of Technology and an alliance representative) will select up to 20 posters for presentation at ECED 2026.

Poster availability & pre-submission

To enable a fair and efficient evaluation by Corporate Partners, all accepted poster teams are required to submit a PDF version of their poster no later than 18 May 2026 to:
eced2026@polsl.pl

The submitted PDF files will be made available to the Corporate Partners Poster Jury in advance.

Printed posters must be displayed from the morning of Day 2 (26 May).
Where possible, early display from Day 1 (25 May, during on-site registration) is recommended.

Poster Presentation

Selected posters will be presented during the Poster Walk as part of the main ECED 2026 programme.

Evaluation & Awards

Posters will be evaluated on:

  • relevance to the ECED 2026 theme,
  • innovation and originality,
  • clarity and coherence of the idea,
  • potential to inspire deans and educational leaders,
  • (optional) quality of collaboration with industry or alliances.

A Best Poster Award and up to two Honourable Mentions will be decided by a jury of SEFI Corporate Partners’ representatives.
Finalist poster teams (approx. 3–5) will be invited to the Industrial Night at the Guido Mine, where the awards will be announced and presented.

Student Fee & Accommodation

To support student participation, ECED 2026 offers:

  • a reduced student conference fee (100 EUR early / 150 EUR regular),
  • low-cost dormitory accommodation at Silesian University of Technology, planned to be available for student poster presenters (subject to availability).
